UROP Research Project Opening
Center for Biological & Computational Learning
Dept. of Brain & Cognitive Sciences, MIT

AIM
- We offer a UROP position for the spring term to work with the vision systems group at CBCL. We are currently involved in a project involving the development of learning systems for visual detection of generic classes of objects found in scenes on the street. The undergraduate researcher will be involved with the acquisition and labeling of data for the training and testing phases of the project. A large database of images needs to be collected and processed for our learning systems to be tested with statistical significance.
TECHNIQUE
- Students will be taking pictures of street scenes in Cambridge and downtown Boston. These images will afterwards be developed into a testing database for our object detection system. Training and testing images taken must fit a series of constraints. Once the images have been acquired, specialized software will be used to label the target objects.
PREREQUISITES
- Must be an MIT undergraduate student.
REIMBURSEMENT
- Hourly rate. Pay-by-picture opportunities are also available.
START TIME
- ASAP
DURATION
- All semester
